Krystal Register, MS, RDN, LDN
Supermarket/Retail Subgroup Chair
Krystal Register, MS, RD, LDN has been a Wegmans Nutritionist in the VA/MD/DC area for over ten years.  Her mission is to help people live healthier, better lives through food by providing accurate nutrition information while promoting health and wellness in the stores, community and media.  Krystal’s background includes environmental and nutrition science studies with degrees from the College of William and Mary and James Madison University, with both clinical and personal coaching experience.  

Sheila Weiss, RDN, LD, FAND
Sponsorship Chair
With more than 15 years of nutrition policy, public relations and communications experience, Sheila currently works as as Nutrition Communications Supervisor at Outloud, LLC, a communications firm in Baltimore, MD.  She started her career at the National Restaurant Association, where she spearheaded numerous initiatives on behalf of the restaurant industry and led outreach to member companies on diverse issues.  Sheila was the founding chair of the Restaurant and Hospitality Subgroup and proudly served as Chair of the Nominating Committee of FCP.

Marie A. Whelen
, MS, RDN, LD
Food Safety Subgroup Chair

Marie Whelen, MS, RDN, LD has a passion for teaching and coaching focused on improving food safety, sanitation, and nutrition. By explaining the reasons behind regulations and recommendations, she empowers clients to produce lasting changes. Marie teaches nutrition at The Art Institute of Houston and consults on menu planning, sanitation, and health promotion. She has been a food safety specialist for more than 20 years and holds degrees from Louisiana State University and the MGH Institute of Health Professions, with an internship at Massachusetts General Hospital.


Lannette Kovachi
, MS, RDN
Restaurant/Hospitality Subgroup Chair

 

Lanette Kovachi, MS, RDN, is the Global Dietitian for Subway® restaurants. She oversees nutrition analysis of menu items, advises on food regulations and trends, and provides nutrition tips to a wide audience.  She has helped guide the Subway® team on important menu initiatives, including: sodium reduction, increasing whole grains and the removal of artificial trans fat. Prior to joining the Subway®, Lanette worked for several years as a clinical and out-patient dietitian.  

 


Martha Marino, MA, RDN, CD
Agriculture Subgroup Chair

Martha Marino, MA, RDN, CD, is Director of Education at Carnation Farms, in a beautiful agricultural valley near Seattle. At this new non-profit, she is responsible for creating an onsite mentorship for new farmers, an all-summer program for teens, cooking camps, family retreats, and K-12 field trips. She has worked for ag commissions and university extension in her nutrition education career. Martha loves promoting local food! She grew up working on her family’s citrus orchard.


Bob Earl, MPH, RD
FCP Foundation Fund Chair
 

Robert (Bob) Earl is an independent food, nutrition, and health policy consultant, and yoga instructor. Previously, he was a global scientific and regulatory affairs executive with The Coca-Cola Company; vice president with the Grocery Manufacturers Association and International Food Information Council; study director, Food and Nutrition Board, National Academy of Medicine; and administrator in the Academy’s Washington, DC, office. He served as FCP chair, Speaker of the House of Delegates, on Academy and Foundation Boards, and in numerous other leadership positions. Bob received the Academy’s Medallion Award in 2008.

 


Alice Lenihan, RD
2019 Educational Trip Chair
 

Alice Lenihan, MPH, RD, LDN is the Senior Global Clinical Advisor for the Special Olympic International Healthy Athletes, Health Promotion Program. She has been a RD for over 40 years and has worked in Public Health and Community settings in Montana and North Carolina. In 2012 she retired from over 30 years with the North Carolina Division of Public Health, where she was the Branch Head for Nutrition Services. Alice enjoys travel and has an interest in geographical/cultural food habits and global nutrition.


Nikki Briggs, MS, RD
Nominating Chair 
Recognized as one of PRWeek's 40 Under 40, Nicki Briggs is a driven brand marketing and communications leader and passionate food and nutrition expert. Nicki provides integrated, creative solutions for food and hospitality brands as an advisor, board member, consultant, and marketing leader.
Prior to starting her own practice, Nicki led brand communications for Chobani, helping to transform the once regional yogurt company into a one-billion dollar brand in less than five years.

Amy Lucas, RD, LD
Nominating Committee
Amy Lucas, RD, LD has a passion for food for the last 15 years.  With multiple degrees, she’s got one in Culinary Arts, Nutrition, and will soon have an MBA through LSU at Shreveport.  Her current job is working with a contract foodservice company as a manager for their internal nutrition database, focusing on recipe/menu development, nutrition analysis, and aligning ingredients with sustainable suppliers and wellness focused offerings.  Amy also operates Own Your Diet, LLC where the focus is teaching people about food in their own kitchens. 
 


Karen Buch, RDN, LDN
Nominating Committee
As founder and president of Nutrition Connections, LLC, Karen Buch, RDN, LDN, offers strategic planning and food & culinary nutrition communications consulting services to the food industry nationwide. A recognized food and nutrition influencer among consumers and her peers, Karen is also a sought-after speaker, writer, advisor and media personality who strives to help consumers better understand the connection between food, nutrition and health. Prior to starting her own business, Karen worked as a director, retail dietitian and nutrition spokesperson for a Pennsylvania-based Mid-Atlantic supermarket chain.  Karen is a founding member and past-chair of FCP’s Supermarket/Retail subgroup.

Shari Steinbach, MS, RDN

Shari has over 25 years of experience as a health professional with two major supermarkets and is currently owner and president of Shari Steinbach & Associates, LLC, a nutrition and culinary communication consulting firm connecting food companies, health professionals and consumers in the retail setting. She works as a contributing editor with the Retail Dietitian Business Alliance and is a past chair of the FCP Supermarket Sub Group.  


Raeanne Sarazen
, MA, RDN
Social Media Coordinator

 

Raeanne is a passionate, experienced and creative food industry leader and influencer. She has a unique talent for communicating food and nutrition information into easy to understand, useful and engaging content across multiple platforms. As a registered dietitian and chef, with a masters degree in new media and digital studies, Raeanne’s expertise includes overseeing digital food content and strategy, food writing, recipe development and testing, and video production. She is currently working on a recipe writing book for food professionals.
